Q: Can you guess what economists say is the most inefficient major market?
A: The job market.
Finding the right job is tough, and 70% of people aren’t engaged in their work.
Hiring the right people is tricky, and only 50% of new hires meet expectations.
It’s clear that the current ways of connecting candidates and employers aren’t working as well as they should. That’s why the Ian Martin Group, who have been in technical recruiting for over 60 years, decided to challenge the traditional model of per-hire agency fees and create a different model that works for both candidates and employers.
After successfully growing Fitzii, a flat-fee hiring solution that has helped nearly 1,000 small & medium sized organizations hire better, Ian Martin saw that the market is hungry for an alternative to the recruiting agency model.
When Jeremy Henderson noticed what Fitzii and Ian Martin were doing, he saw there was philosophical alignment with the flat-fee matching service he had created, called wayHire. After a meeting of the minds, Ian Martin acquired wayHire, and then put further investment and resources behind Jeremy via a relaunched offering called Matchfield.
And here we are.
Matchfield is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ian Martin Group, which is a certified B Corp with about 200 employees across Canada, the US, and India.
The B in B Corp stands for ‘Benefit’. Certified B Corporations use business as a force for good, and are certified to meet higher standards of social and environmental performance. Ian Martin created Matchfield as a key part of its mission to better connect people with meaningful work.
Together with its sister firm Fitzii, Matchfield is a separate operating company from the Ian Martin Group, but leverages Ian Martin’s offices, support services, and back office functions to help the business flourish.
